I fail to see why the public is so incredibly outraged about public officials and their infidelity. Men go into public service expressly for the power that is inheritant in a high position. These men are risk takers and achievers, and usually good looking. They possess all the qualities that make them utterly irresistible to women. There is no shortage of married and single women who would gladly have an affair with a high ranking official in order to unite his sperm with her egg and hopefully produce an offspring with his desirable qualities. Of course, she isn't think of this when she is involved an affair, but ultimately that is what drives most affairs involving Presidents, Governors, etc. Having sex with a powerful man is a powerful feeling. So, what are men to do? They are biologically programmed to have sex with every female that will allow them... Is it their fault that women are making themselves available to them, much more than the to the average 'man'? I believe that the public is so enraged, because secretly they (the public) wish it could happen the them. We don't like it when someone else is getting something we want. Politicians have it all.... money, power, beautiful wife, and now, he has a mistress too!! That is unacceptable, off with his head!! He cannot have MORE than us! Of course, I am joking. Privately, I bet most men are mentally high-fiving the Governor, after all, to the victor goes the spoils. Plus, men know darn well, that if they were Governor Gibbons and an ex-Playboy bunny was hitting on them.. that they would 'hit' that too. However, our society likes to take the high road and look down our crooked noses at others who trespass on our 'morality' - even if we secretly wish we could trod on that road traveled by those more daring and good-looking.
